The ambiance was one of my favorites about the restaurant. The decor and vibe gave it a Izakaya feel, yet a really nice place to dine-in and be with good company. The bar has several seats, where you can watch the sushi chef prepare their food. The food was good overall, but there were some that shine. The uni pasta was definitely my favorite. It was flavorful and balanced. However, it was the tamago (duck egg) skewer that exceed my expectation. It was sweet and savory and light. It was the best skewer, compared to the king salmon and pork. I would go back for just the tamago skewer and uni pasta. The staff was really polite and was familiar with the menu to give recommendations and describe the items thoroughly. The wait time on a Friday night at 7pm was only for 20min or less, but I would recommend making reservations if planned ahead.

BEST SUSHI IN AUSTIN HANDS DOWN. When I sat at the sushi bar and saw the Toyosu Fish market certificate at the bar, I knew this place was the real deal. Everything I ordered was fresh, tasted very delicious, and the service was so excellent that I felt very calm, and taken care of. As per the items ordered, I do not remember them accurately, so if my descriptions are off, now you know haha. The ambiance is very chill, even on a Saturday night with tons of people in, you can still have a great conversation, its not too loud. I will be coming back.

I've loved Fukumoto for years, so I can't believe this is the first time I'm writing a review. They have some of the best Japanese food in town. You have to get their uni pasta. Seriously, it's the dish I've consistently thought about over the years. It's so creamy and delectable, and you could honestly share with three people and still feel quite full. My friends and I also ordered a variety of their yakitori, which we all really enjoyed. Everything is cooked and seasoned extremely well. I love that Fukumoto's menu is so large because you could visit five times and still not have cracked the surface of all that they have to offer. Service is impeccable, and everyone is so friendly! Definitely an Austin gem.
